How big are domestic skips?
Domestic skips range from 2 yards to 8 yards, depending on how much waste you need to get rid of.
We suggest a 2 yard skip for small household clear-outs and an 8 yard skip for bigger renovations and kitchen refurbs.
What size domestic skip do I need?
It all depends on the job you're doing and the type of waste going in. Mixed rubbish takes up space, and rubble gets heavy fast.
Here's a quick guide to get you started:

- Bigger projects (kitchen rip-out, multiple rooms): builders' skip
What can you not put in a domestic skip?
Hazardous items like asbestos, chemicals, paint and solvents, gas bottles, tyres, batteries, medical waste and electrical items (WEEE) can't go in a domestic skip. Mattresses can go in for an extra charge.
It's not banned, but we'd really suggest giving clothes to charity rather than putting them in a skip. It helps people who need them and gives the clothes a second life.
Can it go on my front lawn?
We'd rather not. The wagon and the skip both sink into soft ground and leave a right mess. A drive or any hard standing is best.
Do I need to be in when it comes?
Not really, as long as we know exactly where it's going and the space is clear. If you want to show the driver where to put it, that's fine too.
What if the neighbours start filling it?
It happens. It's your skip, so if something goes in that shouldn't, it's on you. A tarp over it at night stops most of it.
