The one for proper jobs
If you've got a proper job on, like an extension, a full renovation or emptying a whole house, this is the one. It takes the bulky stuff and the heavy stuff, which is why builders book it more than anything else.
It needs a decent bit of space, so check you've got a full size drive. If not, it can go on the road with a permit and we'll sort that for you.
One thing to watch is weight. It's easy to fill an 8 yard with soil or hardcore and go over the limit before it's even full. If it's mostly heavy stuff, ring us first and we'll tell you what works best.

Small jobs or tight drives. If you've only got a bathroom's worth of rubbish, you're paying for space you won't use. The 4 yard midi skip will do it.
Will an 8 yard fit on my drive?
It's 12ft long and 5ft 6in wide, so getting on for the length of a car. You'll need a full size drive with nothing in the way.
The wagon needs roughly 3 metres width to get in close, and nothing low overhead like branches or phone lines where the arms lift. Firm ground only, no lawns.

In Liverpool a road permit is £44 and lasts up to 7 days. The skip has to be fully on the road, with cones and lights on at night, which we put on. Other councils charge different amounts and we'll tell you the cost when you book.

What jobs are 8 yard skips suitable for?
Our biggest option, the builders' skip, is designed for heavier building waste and bigger volumes of household or building debris. Here are some of the ways people use them:
- Bigger home refurbishments: redoing the kitchen, bathroom or living room? It takes heavy furniture, old bricks, concrete and rubble.
- Building and landscaping work: great for turf, soil and patio rubble, as well as blocks, concrete and planks. Watch the weight with soil and hardcore.
- Commercial refits and clearances: refurbishing an office or shop, or clearing out a warehouse? A builders' skip takes heavy renovation waste with plenty of room for volume.
How big is an 8 yard skip?
An 8 yard skip holds about 8 cubic yards (roughly 6 cubic metres) of waste, which is about 60 to 80 bin bags.
It takes up to 8 tonnes, which makes it the one for bigger renovation and building projects. Got a lot of heavy or bulky materials? This is the skip for you.
What can't go in an 8 yard skip?
An 8 yard skip takes most non-hazardous waste, including wood, metal, bricks, rubble, tiles, plasterboard (bagged separately), plastics, cardboard and general household junk.
Hazardous chemicals and liquids (paint, pesticides, oils), batteries, electrical equipment, asbestos, aerosols, tyres, gas canisters and fuels, and medical waste can't go in. Mattresses and divans cost extra.
Is an 8 yard skip the same as an 8 tonne skip?
People use both names for the same skip. Yards is the size, about 6 cubic metres of space. The tonnes bit is the most it's allowed to weigh, up to 8 tonnes.
Can I fill it with soil or hardcore?
You can put heavy waste in, but a full 8 yard of soil will be well over the weight limit. For a load that's mostly soil or hardcore, two midis are often better. Ring us and we'll work it out with you.
Can I fill it right to the top?
Up to the top edge, yes. Nothing above it though. If it's overloaded the driver can't legally take it, so he'll have to take some off first.
Can you swap it when it's full?
Yes, that's an exchange. We take the full one away and leave an empty one in the same trip, so the job keeps moving.
