How big are commercial skips?
For commercial jobs we offer the 4 yard midi and the 8 yard builders' skip, big enough for general building and refurbishment waste.
Our 8 yard skips are ideal if you're getting rid of bulky furniture or building materials. They're designed for high volumes and get used on building sites, business premises and large strip-outs.
What size commercial skip do I need?
It depends on how much waste you need to get rid of in one go.
If you're doing an office, shop or warehouse clear-out, the waste tends to be bulky rather than heavy (cardboard, fixtures, packaging), so a midi or a builders' skip can be a good fit depending on how much there is.
If you're doing building work (bricks, rubble, concrete, soil) and want it gone quickly, an 8 yard skip is ideal. For heavy loads we suggest two skips so you don't go over the weight limit.
What can you not put in a commercial skip?
Hazardous or pressurised items can't go in a commercial skip. That includes asbestos, chemicals, solvents, oils, fuels, liquid waste, batteries, tyres, clinical or medical waste, and electricals.
Can you swap the skip when it's full?
Yes, that's an exchange. We take the full one and drop an empty one in the same trip. Handy on refits that run over a few weeks.
Can the skip go on the road outside the shop?
Yes, with a permit, and we apply for it. In the city centre the rules are tighter: road skips have to be removed the same day unless it's an enclosed lockable skip.
Do I get a waste transfer note?
Yes. Businesses are meant to keep a record of where their waste goes, and the note covers you.
