Why the midi gets booked more than any other
If you're doing a room at home, this is nearly always the one. A mini fills up quicker than people think once you've ripped a bathroom out, and a builders' skip is more than you need and takes up the whole drive.
It's low enough to lift stuff in without a ladder, and the drop door at the end means you can wheel a barrow straight in. It also handles heavier stuff like tiles, plaster and a bit of rubble, which is why the trades like it for smaller jobs.

Will a midi fit on my drive?
Probably. It's 8ft long and 4ft wide, so a bit over half the length of a normal family car and narrower too. If you can park a car on your drive, a midi will go on it.
Leave about a foot of space round it and keep the way in clear. The wagon needs roughly 3 metres width to get in close, and nothing low overhead like branches or phone lines where the arms lift.

Bin bags are a rubbish way to measure a job, so here's what one usually takes in practice. Every job's different though, so treat these as a rough guide.

How big is a 4 yard skip?
It's named after its volume of four cubic yards, which is roughly 3 cubic metres of space. It's compact enough to fit on a normal driveway, which makes it handy for most homes.
Our 4 yard skips hold around 40 to 50 bin bags of waste, so they take a lot more than they look. The low sides make it easy to load, as long as you don't overfill it.
What can and can't I put in a 4 yard skip?
You can put in most common non-hazardous waste. That includes general household rubbish (cardboard, plastics, old furniture and so on), garden waste (branches, turf, leaves) and light building debris (plasterboard bagged separately, wood, rubble).
Electricals like fridges, TVs and devices can't go in, and neither can asbestos, solvents, paint tins, batteries, chemicals or medical waste.
Is a 4 yard skip the same as a 4 tonne skip?
People use both names for the same thing. Yards is the size, roughly 3 cubic metres of space. The tonnes bit is just the most it's allowed to weigh, which is up to 4 tonnes for a midi.
Can I put soil and rubble in it?
Yes, the midi's good for heavier stuff. Just remember soil and hardcore are heavy, so you might hit the weight limit before it looks full. Ring us if it's mostly soil and we'll advise.
Can I fill it right to the top?
Up to the top edge, yes. Nothing above it though. If it's overloaded the driver can't legally take it, so he'll have to take some off first.
How quickly can you drop one off?
Next day most of the time. Same day if we've got one free, so ring early if it's urgent. Road skips depend on the council getting the permit through.
